Benito Pablo Juárez García (Benito Pablo Juárez García, 1806 - 1872), was born into a poor Zapotec family near Oaxaca. After the revolution and the war of independence in 1867-1872. he was the president of Mexico - and still is the only president of Mexico from the Indians. It is not surprising that in Oaxaca, where he was governor for some time, they created a house-museum dedicated to him.
